Etape Caledonia the UK’s original closed road cycling event which takes place in Pitlochry, Highland Perthshire on Sunday 12 May 2024.
With up to 5,000 places on offer, this sell-out event attracts cyclists from all over the country to take on one of the most breath-taking rides through the spectacular Scottish Highlands.
The challenging 85-mile route is popular with road cyclists of all abilities. Over the years the event has attracted sporting legends, celebrities and even Hollywood superstars to tackle its steep climbs, to be rewarded with breath-taking views of the Scottish Highlands, and the still silence of closed roads.
This year’s event has three distances for you to choose from:
85-mile route: 85 miles of closed road cycling beginning and concluding in Pitlochry. The course consists of rolling hills and forest-lined roads around Loch Rannoch and Loch Tummel, combined with the demanding, twisting climb of Mt Schiehallion (1,083m).
55-mile route: This challenging but achievable distance is perfect for both experienced cyclists and those looking to push their limits. Soak in the incredible views in this closed-road event.
40-mile route: A 40-mile option of closed road cycling beginning in Pitlochry. The course will take you left away from the 85-mile route at Loch Tummel and then South towards Coshieville, round to Aberfeldy before you finish back in Pitlochry.
The Event Village: Participants and spectators can make the most of the event weekend and soak up the festival atmosphere in Etape Caledonia’s Event Village. Throughout the weekend enjoy locally sourced food and drink and live music. The Event Village is open to all riders, their supporters and spectators all weekend.
