A Theatre for Everyone. A Theatre for a Lifetime. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the theatre building is temporarily closed. But we are still here for you.
We may not be able to meet together right now, but we still share drama, art and discussion. We’ve had LIVE rehearsed readings, a Post Show Talk for Adventures with the Painted People – and there are more online, interactive activities and collaborations coming up.
Checkout the latest on our What's On - Digital page on the website.Since before lockdown we have been providing entertainment and interactive drama digitally, through our online initiative, #PFTLightHopeJoy - your online series of activities for all ages, more here on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, and our YouTube channel - songs, poems, cookery, gardening, stories, dance routines, acting tips, young people's make and do - all sorts of everything to brighten the day!
Young Explorers - besides activities included for children through the week - there are activities especially for children here - poem, story read in video by an actor - then a video on an activity to do e.g Poem the Tyger by William Blake, The Tiger Who Came To Tea story, making Tiger Paw cookies - and a downloadable sheet of instructions for the activity - so parents at home have activities to do with their little ones.
Telephone Club - call anytime between 12pm and 4pm, Monday to Friday, leave a message and we'll call back for a chat with actors and members of the Pitlochry Festival Theatre Team during the building’s closure. We want audiences to feel connected to the Theatre even though you are unable to visit in person, and Telephone Club will help combat loneliness in the coming months. more here.
LOOKING FORWARD TO 2021 - choose from 7 world class dramas and two blockbuster musicals - in the heart of Scotland.
The famous Theatre in the Hills has an international reputation for the high quality and scale of its productions, drawing over 120,000 visitors every year to enjoy a unique Summer Season repertory system which allows visitors, by the end of the season, to enjoy a different show every night of the week, and - with two on matinée days, 6 in 4 days!
The incredible versatility of our professional ensemble of actors and creatives: performing 3 and 4 shows; changing character, genre, era, accent, day-to-day and often afternoon to evening, plus incredible musicianship, and the production team accommodating set changes and the technical successions: professional repertory theatre is a very special experience. We are a making theatre - we make all set, costumes and props on-site.
