St John’s Town of Dalry (known locally as Dalry), lies on an old pilgrimage route to Whithorn and St Ninian’s Cave and today the Southern Upland Way, a long distance footpath, runs through this pretty town by the Water of Ken. The town is named after the Knights of St John and is 16 miles from Castle Douglas.
This picturesque village has opportunities for eating out, a general store, post office, a bank and a garage. The close proximity to the Southern Upland Way makes Dalry a great place for walkers.
