Our home, Hutton Lodge is a 19th century ex-school house on the picturesque Solway Firth in Scotland just across the border from England.
Named after Dr John Hutton (d.1712) it is positioned in the hamlet of Bankend on the B725 Solway Heritage Trail, part of Route 7 Sustrans cycle route and ideally positioned for visitors to Scotland's premier Arts & Craft Open Studios event known as the Spring Fling, held in May each year. We are less than 2 miles from the WWT Caerlaverock Wetland Centre, Caerlaverock Nature Reserve and Caerlaverock Castle. Nearby is the Crichton Business Park and Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary. Our home offers a peaceful, comfortable retreat for guests on holiday as well as on business. Evening meals can be enjoyed in the Nith Hotel, approximately 1.5km from our home, which requires a short car drive to the adjoining village of Glencaple.
We assure you of a warm welcome and look forward to help make your stay cosy and pleasant in a relaxed, country environment just a few minutes drive from central Dumfries.
