Sleeps 6 with 3 bedrooms, 2 bath, lounge, kitchen & dining room. Well equipped with oil fired central heating, log stove, garden furniture, BBQ and secure storage for bikes or sports equipment.
The house is within easy walking distance to local pub, supermarket and local amenities. Situated within 45 minutes of Fort William to the West and Inverness to the North and a 2 hour drive from Edinburgh or Glasgow to the South.
Whether you have come for the walking, cycling, golfing, family activities, fishing or just the scenery this is a great base for a memorable and relaxing holiday.
WOODLANDS - NEWTONMORE, CAIRNGORM NATIONAL PARK, SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS
Woodlands Cottage is a 100-year-old detached granite cottage situated in the Highland village of Newtonmore, a beautiful area, situated within the Cairngorm National Park - known as the 'walking capital of Scotland'. Surrounding the village is a 7½ mile Wildcat Trail, an orbital path that includes Glen Banchor, the Calder falls, tracks into the Monadhliath mountains and great views of the nearby Cairngorms. The River Spey runs by the village, and is an easy 10-minute stroll from the cottage.
If you enjoy the outdoors, just about every sporting activity you can imagine is available on the doorstep. There are forest tracks for mountain biking, tennis courts and bowling green within a 10-minute walk, two nearby ski areas, sailing, trout and salmon fishing, horse riding, shooting and 4 X 4 driving. In addition to the 18-hole course, in the village, golfers can play a different course every day of the week - all within less than a 30-minute drive from here.
There are a host of visitor attractions including forest adventure parks, living museums, malt whisky distilleries, RSPB sites, wildlife centers and sheepdog demonstrations including the collie pups and duck displays. The list is endless!
Newtonmore is a 2-hour drive from Edinburgh. Inverness Airport is 1 hour away and guests can fly for an economical fare from Luton Airport via Easyjet. There are 3 car rental operators at the airport. Alternatively, there is a train station 3 minutes' walk away from the house; this is served from Kings Cross Station, London. Newtonmore has a choice of good restaurants and 3 miles away there is an award-winning restaurant (AA 3 Red Rosettes).
There are 3 welcoming hotel bars offering evening entertainment. Traditional Scottish Ceilidh nights can be found in the summer nights in nearby Aviemore
