Scenic Glentrool has three trail types - the moderate blue trail, the easy riding green trails for novices and families and the forest road Big Country route whcih offers a touring experience rather than the mountain biking experience many will have come to expect.
Start your day at Glentrool Visitor Centre which serves great good from March to October. It's set beside a bubbling river and surrounded by picnic tables.
Glentrool is aimed at those who want to get out into the wild windswept places of Galloway, it doesn't have mile upon mile of technical purpose-built single-track, but it provides an exhilarating day out .
This area's history is also written into the landscape – look out for Bruce's Stone nearby, overlooking the Battle of Glen Trool in 1307, and a moving monument to 17th century covenanters, slain for their religious beliefs.
