Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre and Wildlife Reserve covers 130 hectares near Dunkeld. From early April to late August, the star attraction is a pair of breeding ospreys, which nest just 150 metres from our observation hide. Interactive displays help bring the story of Loch of the Lowes to life. Get closer to the ospreys with binoculars, telescopes and live video footage. Spot red squirrels, woodpeckers and other woodland birds from viewing windows. Our gift shop offers a range of wildlife-related gifts and souvenirs. Hot and cold drinks and light refreshments are available. In the winter, observe the over wintering ducks and geese, as well as red squirrels, nuthatch and fallow deer. Beavers can also be seen all year round at dawn and dusk

Face coverings are mandatory in the visitor centre and hides. Social distancing and enhanced hygiene measures are in place throughout.

Get closer to the ospreys with binoculars, telescopes and live video footage. See red squirrels, woodpeckers and other woodland birds from the viewing windows.

In the visitor centre you can see interactive displays which help bring the story of Loch of the Lowes to life. There are regular family events and educational activities throughout the year. The gift shop sells a wide range of wildlife-themed gifts and souvenirs, hot and cold drinks and light refreshments.

Car Parking

2 disabled parking spaces available in the main car park with 3 additional spaces next to Visitor Centre entrance. From car park the visitor centre is 150m up a gentle slope.
Car park closes at 16:30 and remains closed when the centre is also closed.

The reserve is situated 16 miles north of Perth and 2 miles north east of Dunkeld, just off the A923 Dunkeld to Blairgowrie road (signposted from the A9). The car park is situated at the roadside 120m from the visitor centre, and is linked by a wheelchair friendly path.

Please note that on some sat-navs, the visitor centre postcode (PH8 0HH) takes you to the opposite end of the loch. In this case, the postcode PH8 0ES appears to work better.

Itinéraires en transports publics

Public transport to Dunkeld available via train (Dunkeld and Birnam station) and bus links from Perth. Visitors can also walk from Dunkeld using the Fungarth Path (with various parking options), which is about 2 miles in length and 5 miles as a circular route. Additional information available from www.walkthehighlands.co.uk Cyclists can access the reserve via A923 from Dunkeld, a 2 mile diversion off the National Cycle Network route 77.
