Perth Cathedral, dedicated to St Ninian who introduced Christianity to Scotland in 397AD, was the first Cathedral built in the UK after the Reformation. Designed by celebrated Victorian architect William Butterfield, this beautiful Grade A listed building is the seat of the Bishop and Diocese of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane in the Scottish Episcopal Church. An architectural and historical gem with fine stained glass, Perth Cathedral is home to an active congregation, enjoying links with the local community. Visitors are very welcome to the Cathedral which is currently open on Monday to Wednesday from 9.00am - 12.30pm for private prayer and for individual or small group self-guided visits. We try our best to keep the cathedral open during these times, but there may be some occasions when a shortage of volunteers means we need to close at short notice and we do apologise for any inconvenience caused. Services of Holy Communion take place on Wednesday and Sunday mornings at 11 am. Every effort has been made to ensure that all necessary Covid19 safety measures are in place for the protection of everyone in the building. Visitors are asked to wear a face-mask and to follow the clear guidance on hand sanitising and social distancing.
