Found within the Ravenspoint Centre, his full archive of personal papers, books, photographs, and recordings is available for reference and research. Angus was born in Calbost and went on to become a crofter, seaman, Harris Tweed manufacturer, the founder of the Scottish Crofting Union and the force behind the memorials to the heroes of the Land Struggle.
Angus was passionate about the history and culture of his people, and this collection is a must visit for those interested in the heritage of the Highlands, the islands and South Lochs. Whether you are a researcher, resident or visitor, you enjoy exploring this archive which covers crafting, fishing, genealogy, place names and much more.
While a significant part of the archive is in Gaelic - see particularly some of the stories in From the Ceilidh House - Angus generally preferred to write in English. Indeed, like many of his generation of native Gaelic speakers, he was not comfortable with writing Gaelic, and the format of the archive faithfully reflects this cultural pattern
