Luxury private tour for 1 to 8 people. This is essentially a sightseeing tour, and lasts approx. 5 hours including coffee and lunch breaks. Should you wish to visit any of the attractions such as Melrose Abbey , time must be added.

Leaving from one of our designated Fife pick up points and heading south towards Scotland’s capital Edinburgh, we take the new Queensferry Crossing over the Firth of Forth, completed in 2017, with a view of the other 2 iconic bridges over the river. The Forth Rail Bridge designed by Sir John Fowler and Sir Benjamin Baker was opened in 1890, and is still used daily as a commuter train crossing from Fife to Edinburgh. Standing to the side of the Forth Rail Bridge designed by Sir Gilbert Roberts and opened in 1964, is the Forth Road Bridge, now used for goods vehicles and private hire vehicles. We travel to the new town of Edinburgh, considered a masterpiece of city planning in its day, and the old town where the Royal Mile sits, with Edinburgh castle to one end and Holyrood Palace to the other. We go up to Arthur’s Seat, formed from an extinct volcano and one of the hills which form Holyrood Park. Not only is the park a calm and beautiful setting, Arthur´s seat also provides some of the most stunning panoramic views over Edinburgh and Fife. Leaving Edinburgh, we head south towards the borders and Melrose. Although Jedburgh, Kelso, Dryburgh and Melrose all have Abbeys built by King David I of Scotland, from the early 12th century, they are all in ruins, thanks to Henry VIII and the reformation. However, Melrose is the the most complete building. Nearby is Abbotsford House, former home of Sir Walter Scott who wrote the Lady of The Lake which proved to be an inspiration to Franz Schubert who wrote music around the poem including Ellen´s Third Song, now more commonly known as Ave Maria. Turning northwest, we head off towards Galashiels famous for its textile industry and Stow, before arriving at Rosslyn Chapel on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Believed by many to be the resting place of the Holy grail, Rosslyn Chapel featured in the book by Dan Brown, The da Vinci Code and the film of the same name.

The length of this tour is approx 5 hours, including coffee and lunch break. If you wish to visit any of the attractions or any other beautiful borders towns not mentioned here, time must be added to your tour accordingly. Please contact us for advice. Please note the price for this tour is 45 pounds per hour, for 1 - 8 people, we do not charge per person.
