This three-day tour will take you through eight islands and along the incredible west coast of the Uists and Barra. Along the way, we will discover ancient archaeology, astonishing wildlife and the world of the crofting communities. See this world of an island come to life with your native island guide and fluent Gaelic speaker as he reveals the inside world of these incredible islands.

Day 1 - Arrive on the morning flight from the mainland on Loganair and be met by your guide.

Highlights: beaches , archaeology, wildlife, history

Once bags are loaded, we then head off on this beautiful adventure through these beautiful islands of the southern Hebrides. We head to the north and begin with a delightful stroll through one of our most pristine nature reserves to look for wildlife and to step into the vast openness of the Uists. We then make our way to your accommodation for three nights and get you checked in.

After you have refreshed, we then take a walk out into the moors to visit ancient archaeology and step back in time to more than six thousand years and the first settlers on these islands. Our day ends back at your accommodation, and you are left to enjoy the ambience and some fine Hebridean dining at the end of your first day.

Dinner on own

Day 2 - Highland cows, seals and beaches

Highlights: Highland cows, seals, Machair, beaches, archaeology

Today we head out along the east coast and to the remote island of Berneray. Once a favourite haunt of Prince Charles and Lady Diana. Here we look for common seals, otters and the abundance of wildlife found along the beautiful Machair and coastline. A gentle stroll out onto the coasts will introduce you to the world of a crofter before finishing off our walk at the monument to the Giant MacAskill said to have been the tallest person in Britain at one time standing over seven-foot nine.

Lunch stop will be in a small local establishment on the way.

In the afternoon we head for a personal visit to see the Highland cows and get to learn all about these incredible creatures and how they have made a considerable comeback in Scotland over the years and is now one of the key visitor attractions. Make sure you have your cameras on hand for these beautiful animals.

Return to your accommodation early afternoon for some free time and dinner on own.

Day 3 - Heading Up South

Highlights: fishing boats, seafood, beaches, wildlife, history moorlands

As they say in these islands, we head up south and explore the other end of the Uists. Our journey today introduces us to the world of boat building and the small fishing harbours. We get to sample some local seafood and lunch on own in a little cafe next to the ocean. We continue up south and follow in the footsteps of Bonnie Prince Charlie as he escaped from these islands with Flora MacDonald over the sea to Skye. We continue further south to the small island of Eriskay, and our journey ends with a stop on Charlie's beach where Bonnie Prince Charlie landed in 1745. Here you will learn the story of whisky galore where a cargo vessel sank with over 200,000 bottles of whisky onboard. We will toast our journeys end with a small dram in a local bar.

Dinner on own

Day 4 - Depart tour ends.
