The centre is less than 2 hours from Glasgow, Carlisle and Ayr and is ideally sited for easy access to the 7stanes bike trails of Kirroughtree, Dalbeattie, Mabie and Ae. Loch Ken and the Solway coast are within easy reach. Four of the 7stanes mountain bike trail centres are convenient to the centre.
Abernethy Barcaple is a Christian adventure centre, located in a secluded setting in the rolling hills of Dumfries and Galloway near Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright. From the centre there’s easy access to the 7stanes mountain bike trails of Kirroughtree, Dalbeattie, Mabie and Ae, canoeing on the River Dee (as well as on our on-site lochan), climbing (and the only indoor climbing wall in Dumfries & Galloway), Loch Ken and the Solway coast.
As well as on-site activities including archery and team building activities, we’ve left some of the site for ecological projects. Come and learn about the local wildlife in between adventure activities! With room for over 60 guests, we can be flexible to best accommodate you and help you get the most out of a trip to Abernethy: we are currently following Government Guidelines around Covid-19.
We work with schools, colleges, church groups, youth and uniformed groups – as well as families and groups looking for accommodation and adventure activities in a stunning part of Scotland.
