Acer Glen enjoys a very central location in the Heart of the Highland capital, 2 minutes from the River Ness and close to the Castle, Cathedral and Eden Court Theatre. So you can easily spend your day enjoying a wide range of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and bars, or the many national equivalents. Leakey’s bookshop is just over the river.
If you want to spread your wings further and enjoy local attractions and the fantastic scenery of the Highlands you can visit Urquhart Castle, Culloden Battlefield, Fort George, The Black Isle, or try your hand at Nessie spotting on Loch Ness and the Great Glen, or the more successful dolphin watching in the Moray Firth.
There are many Munros (hills over 3,000 feet tall) within easy reach and the Cairngorm National Park is just a 30-minute drive or 40 mins to the ski slopes. Even Ben Nevis can be conquered in a day and you can be back in the Acer Glen B&B by late afternoon.
Inverness is an excellent jumping off point to explore the rich culture and history of: the west coast; the Isle of Skye; the northern tip of the UK, including John o'Groats; Orkney and the Shetlands. Inverness is the start/finish for the North Coast 500 (NC500) and features in the TV drama Outlander. And what trip to Northern Scotland would be complete without a whisky tour. There are distilleries within 20 miles of Inverness and Speyside is under an hour away with what seems like a world class whisky around every corner.
