This area of Angus is simply beautiful and this family home is steeped in history. Whilst perfectly secluded, the castle is a mere 20 minutes from the coast and has easy access to golf courses such as Carnoustie, St Andrews or nearby Rosemount at Blairgowrie. In the large walled garden, for the energetic, there is a tennis court, a grassy area with football goal post, miles of walks, trout and salmon fishing and nearby stalking is available by arrangement.
As you travel down the tree lined drive you know you are about to see something special and Airlie is captivating and impressive. Inside, this house has a real charm and atmosphere with vaulted ceilings and numerous original features yet it retains a warmth and welcome not often found in big castles. The bedrooms sleep 14 – including a wonderful 4 poster but note that one bedroom may suit children best as it contains 3 single beds. There is a cottage adjoining the main castle that can sleep 4 and would be ideal for extra capacity or for staff.
This is a “proper” castle – full of heritage and history and a glorious place to be. It is a wonderful holiday spot and comes complete with 3 hours housekeeping a day.
