Alder House is a charming country house set in Historic Kilmartin Glen. We are situated close to Dunadd Fort on the edge of the peaceful village of Bridgend. In the centre of the village is an Inn which serves meals and refreshements. The town of Lochgilphead with it's supermarket, shops, swimming pool and other amenities is approximately 4 miles away. The Crinan Canal os less than 2 miles away and is an ideal place for a bit of cycling, walking or sightseeing. A scenic drive for those wishing to explore further, is the Kintyre Trail which stretches as far as Campbeltown, from Kintyre you can also catch a ferry to Arran or Islay.
Whilst exploring the area, the pretty harbour town of Tarbert is worth a visit, with shops selling local arts and crafts. Oban is 38 miles away, a lovely journey by car with plenty of options for visiting attractions and sightseeing along the way. Oban is the port for ferries to the Isands of Mill, Colonsay, Coll & Tiree in the Inner Hebrides and also Barra and Uist in the Outer Hebrides.
There are many interesting towns and villages to explore in the area, all with their own unique Argyll charm, from Inveraray with it's Historic Castle, Gardens and the Jail, to Crina and Tayvallich with many forest walks, bike trails and fishing, and the village of Kilmartin with it's museum and standing stones.
Both of our Twin and Double rooms have en-suite facilities and are spacious with tea and coffee provided to ensure a comfortable stay. We have private parking and an internet connection. We are also accessible by public transport as the bus stops just at the bottom of the road.
