Situated in the quiet Lochside village of Newton, this brand-new contemporary and beautifully decorated cottage has 2 double bedrooms sleeping up to 4 people. It is just outside Strachur, home of the famous Creggans Inn, the area boasts many award-winning restaurants and is a fantastic base for many daytrips and excursions.
The house has been built to very high eco standards – well insulated, aluminium double-glazed windows, underfloor heating throughout powered by an air source heat pump and with a heat exchange system in every room makes the house extremely comfortable in winter and summer.
At the front of the house is an excellent covered porch perfect for storing wood, hanging wet coats and boots and for sitting out to look at the great views. From the porch, guests are welcomed by a bright and airy entrance hall with plenty of room for coats and boots, that simply hints at the beautifully presented, charming accommodation that is to come.
The open plan living area flows through from a very well-equipped kitchen with dining table to a snug sitting room with comfy sofas and a wood burning stove. Both parts of this wonderful room have been set up to allow the views to be admired during meals or when relaxing with their large picture windows which flood the spacious room with light and open out onto the garden, effectively ‘bringing the outdoors in’ – from the kitchen, the windows slide open to allow access to the garden.
It is all very well equipped with a Smart TV which includes FreeSat, Wifi, books, maps and games so plenty to entertain guests when settled in front of the woodburner – logs are provided as standard. In the elegant master double bedroom there is a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room. There is one other attractive double bedroom with a superking bed which converts to twin beds that has use of a family bathroom. High quality mattresses, sheep’s wool duvets, crisp cotton sheets, woollen throws and plenty of soft cushions add to the luxury and comfort of both beds.
Parking is right by the front door and it is a 30 second walk to the beach and jetty in the Newton village. The garden, mostly laid to lawn, wraps around the house and is bordered by the beck which flows into the loch.
There are some fantastic restaurants only a few miles away such as the award winning Inver, The Oyster Catcher at Otter Ferry and The Famous Creggans Inn. Portavadie Marina and Spa is only 25 miles from Newton and makes for a lovely day trip. Another great day out is a visit to Tighnabruich.
Inveraray and Loch Fyne Oyster Bar are also within easy reach. The Cowal Peninsula is Argyll’s Secret Coast and there are numerous hill walks and coastal walks for you to discover.
There are lots of great walks and things to do in the local area, it is 25 minutes from Inverary, 1.5 hours from Oban and Glasgow and a short drive to many places of interest. The cottage has wonderful sea views to the hills and mountains beyond.
