The Auld Schoolhouse was originally built in 1791 as a water driven linen mill, it was converted in 1876 to accommodate the local schoolmaster. It has been refurbished to an exceptionally high standard but retains all of its original charms.
The swift flowing Skyreburn, which once drove the water mill, runs the full length of the spacious mature and secluded garden which is enclosed and safe for children. The house is located on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park, nominated Britain's first Dark Skies Park, and only a 5 minute drive to historic Gatehouse of Fleet; A short walk leads to the nearby sandy, child friendly beach, and the quiet country road (used for access only) leads directly to the magnificent Galloway Hills. The house is also within easy reach of the Forestry Commission's 7 Stanes cycle routes.
