The area is famed for its bird life, with ospreys nesting close-by and the rare capercaillie resident in the adjacent woods. Shops and restaurants abound in Aviemore, twelve miles away, although one might want to stop in a pub or two in Nethy bridge or Grantown for a touch of local flavour.
