Badnague is a single-storey croft cottage with easy access via a gently sloping ramp. The interior of this spacious cottage is furnished to a good standard to provide comfortable and tranquil setting.
The front door of the property and opens onto a small vestibule and hallway. To the rear, is a charming conservatory/dining room which also adjoins the rear entrance door and ramp. This leads through to the modern kitchen, with fully fitted units and it is very well-equipped. Solid wood doors open from the hallway, which is light and airy, onto the living room with its feature open fire, a Smart TV. Leather sofa and chairs and a relaxing chair complete the lounge/living room . This room looks out across open fields and moorland, where sheep graze and a wonderful variety of birds can be spotted. Three beautifully presented bedrooms with comfortable oak beds and a large family shower room with double walk-in shower complete the cottage. Car parking is available at the gable end of the house nearest the entrance road for 3+ cars.
The owner farms the surrounding land, using eco-friendly methods, which encourages wildlife to the area. The wildflower meadows are sustainably grown for bird seed and to encourage bees. On the adjoining open moorland, waders, snipe and curlews are regularly spotted. The owner is a professional sheep dog trainer and visitors are likely to see her with her working collies out and about. The local area is noted for its archaeological history and interest, with cairns and brochs close by.
The nearby village of Dunbeath, just over a mile away, has a fascinating heritage centre and a historic castle(private) with gardens open to the public. There are superb coastal walks and a lovely beach just 5 minutes away. The quiet lanes and countryside make this an ideal holiday for cycling, walking, bird watching or just exploring the unspoilt scenery. Situated just off the North Coast 500 route, which passes through some of the most dramatic scenery to be found anywhere in the British Isles, Badnague is ideally located for exploring the stunning, dramatic and completely unspoilt Northern Highlands.
