Set in the heart of Clyde coast resort Helensburgh's leafy conservation area, Balmillig is conveniently close to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park yet just 30 minutes from Glasgow International Airport. Our home is quietly situated in the town but just a few minutes walk takes you to a wide variety of shops and restaurants and rail transport to the city.
Charles Rennie Macintosh's world famous Hill House and Faslane Naval Base are both nearby.
Balmillig is situated directly on The Three Lochs Way and The John Muir Way - two of Scotland's Great Trails.
There is very pleasant walking immediately around Helensburgh and we are just a few minutes from the National Park boundaries with many more challenging routes and the longer distance Three Lochs Way and John Muir Way.
After a long day travelling, sightseeing, walking, wildlife spotting, golfing or shopping, come home to a relaxing tea or coffee among the greenery of Balmillig's comfortable conservatory. Having welcomed guests for more than 40 years, our 4 star quality award shows we know how to help you enjoy all that Helensburgh and this superb area has to offer. We make Balmillig a friendly relaxing home and we're sure you'll enjoy sharing it with us.

All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, TV and hairdryer. The lounge/conservatory is a large, comfortably furnished, heated space with books and lots of information about the area. We have a wood fire to enjoy on cold winter evenings.
Breakfast
Enjoy fruit juice, cereals or porridge, fruit, toasted bread, oatcakes, homemade marmalade, and a choice of freshly cooked eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and tattie scones. Have some or all; the choice is yours. Breakfast is served in the conservatory, so while you enjoy your cornflakes you can watch the birds and squirrels enjoying theirs!
Parking and Garden
There is off street parking within the spacious and colourful garden which has a patio area where you can enjoy the summer annuals as well as the varied collection of shrubs, trees and herbaceous perennials selected to support wildlife as well as providing year round fragrance, floral and foliage interest. The wildlife pond is very popular with the garden birds. We have a type 2 electric car charger which guests may use overnight at a cost of £10 for a full charge.
Restaurants and Shopping
Balmillig is within easy walking distance of bus and train services, seafront, park, shops and restaurants. We have a large file with menus for most local restaurants. Helensburgh boasts a variety of shops and restaurants and is highly regarded as both a 'foodie' and a shoppers' destination.
Green issues
To be as 'green' as possible Balmillig is built to top energy conservation standards. The garden is wildlife friendly, we recycle plastics, paper etc., compost kitchen waste and have installed solar powered water heating. We support a large number of initiatives and organisations concerned with nature, wildlife and the environment. We actively help manage the long distance route called the Three Lochs Way.
