This is an idylic getaway and heavenly retreat and is VERY remote with a 3/4 mile bumpy farm track leading to it.
The track is best suited to a 4x4 but a normal car is passable for the more adventurous off-road driver if you take it slowly. It is NOT suitable for sports cars, low slung cars, heavily laden vehicles or nervous drivers!
Banlicken is an outstanding location on the side of a heathery hill on the west coast of Arran and with fabulous views across the sea to Kintyre. The house successfully combines being in a wild and remote
location whilst also being comfortable and contemporary. The renovation of the farmhouse and byre has sympathetically turned a Scottish croft into an extraordinary and peaceful haven.
The accommodation consists of a main house and byre (cottage) as can be seen in the main photo which has 5 lovely bedrooms all with a sea view and 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen/dining area and a comfortable and cosy sitting room with an open fire with a separate games room with table tennis and outside patio area for al fresco dining.
There are 7 golf courses on Arran, the closest is Machrie (3 miles south), Blackwaterfoot (Shiskine 6m) and Lochranza (10m North) as well as others all over the island.
The nearest shop is 3 miles to the North at Pirnmill. There is also a bakery, butcher, hardware store and village shop at Blackwaterfoot. The nearest tearooms and restaurants are at Pirmill, Machrie and Blackwaterfoot. The nearest Pubs are at Catacol (6 miles), Lochranza and Blackwaterfoot.
Well behaved dogs are accepted at the house by special arrangement prior to booking,
