Berryhill is the home of “Hygge” Holidays in Scotland. We are situated just one mile from the mail A1 at the village of Grantshouse in the Scottish Borders. We offer a range of exquisitely comfortable and nature friendly holiday accommodation units to suit the environmentally discerning guest. The accommodation units comprise a little glamping lodge, a yurt and a one bedroom stone cottage dating to the early 1900’s
The property is surrounded by woodland which is home to a wide range of Scottish wildlife including, for the first time in 2015, an elusive little stoat who took up residence and reared kits in a collapsed dry stone wall. Berryhill is a must for birdwatchers with bird feeders and nest boxes hang from the trees and each year sees a flurry of nesting activity in the spring. Woodpeckers, tree creepers, robins, wrens, blackbirds and song thrushes provide the most exquisite dawn and dusk chorus in the summer months. Berryhill is a 'nature friendly zone’ we are an eco-friendly, green business and everything we do is done with respect for our natural surroundings.
St Abbs Nature Reserve and the spectacular cliffs and beaches of the east coast are within easy reach. The Seabird Centre at North Berwick is 25 miles away. There is great walking both along the coast and inland in the Lammermuirs, whilst riding fishing, diving and golf can be found locally. There are fantastic sandy beaches nearby and a Pub serving food is close at hand.
Berryhill is situatedright on a beautiful stretch that joins two Scottish borders cycle routes and we offer our guests the opportunity to hire bicycles so that they can explore and enjoy this fabulous part of Scotland. We also provide courses in wildlife identification, sketching and photography but these need to be arranged in advance.
As a working smallholding we have a flock of rare breed Portland sheep, which graze the paddock just to the east of the cottage – lambing time provides a real treat for those folk who enjoy seeing very young lambs play together in the evening sun. Those interested are welcome to watch the lambing process if they wish but advance notice must be given for this.
During the summer Oxford Sandy and Black Pigs forage free in the woodland along with our chickens and Guinea Fowl. We also have two hives of bees providing wonderful rich sweet Berryhill hedgerow honey in the autumn.
