Most of the caravans on our site are privately owned. There’s a sense of community here. It’s a home away from home. Blackadder is a place to relax, to enjoy a good book or a barbecue with friends and family. The Blackadder Holiday Park is ideally situated for touring the Scottish Borders. The Border towns of Kelso, Melrose, Peebles, and Duns are all within easy striking distance of the site, as are the famous castles and gardens of Mellerstain, Floors, Traquair, Thirlestane and Abbotsford – the home of Sir Walter Scott.
The nearby Rhymer’s Stone marks the site of the Eildon Tree under which, legend says, Thomas the Rhymer met the Fairie Queen and was spirited away. When he returned, he had gained the gift of prophecy and the inability to tell a lie. Today, the Rhymer’s Stone is visited as a viewpoint from where there are excellent views of Leaderfoot and the summit of Black Hill.
Our varied regional landscape allows all types of cyclist to enjoy their favourite terrain: fast downhill off-road stretches, strenuous road climbs, or relatively flat country lanes for all the family. Mountain-bikers also enjoy the thrills, and possibly spills, to be had at Glentress Forest, near Peebles.
The Scottish Borders is a mecca for fly-fishing. Some of the best salmon-fishing in the world available on the nearby River Tweed.
