Welcome to Brodgar Cottage, a two bedroom self-catering holiday cottage in Stenness, Orkney.
This picturesque stone-built cottage, with traditional flag stone roof was renovated in the 1980s, and provides charming, cosy accommodation for up to 4 guests. Brodgar Cottage enjoys a peaceful, rural setting with spectacular loch and countryside views. It is set in the Heart of Neolithic Orkney, The Ring of Brodgar and Standing Stones of Stenness are only a short stroll from the cottage, and nestles between two well stocked lochs.
This idyllic lochside location will provide you with opportunities to test your fishing skills, watch an abundance of birds and, if you are lucky, you may spot the local otter family.
The cottage is only 50 meters from the Ness of Brodgar archaeological site, and is the perfect location for exploring standing stones, chambered cairns and Neolithic villages.
Alternatively, its central location makes it a fantastic base for you to visit the many other attractions that Orkney has to offer.
Brodgar Cottage Facilities:
Brodgar Cottage has two bedrooms and sleeps up to four adults. It has a welcoming open plan living room and kitchen, with panoramic views of the surrounding lochs and countryside.
The master bedroom is spacious with a king size bed and en-suite shower room, WC and wash-hand basin. The second bedroom comes with a double bed, and has an adjacent bathroom with shower over the bath, WC and wash-hand basin.
The kitchen is well equipped and is stocked with a selection of essential items, such as instant & ground coffee, tea, sugar, olive oil, vinegar, salt & pepper.
You can buy basic groceries from the small local shop in Stenness village, alternatively travel to Stromness or Kirkwall for supermarket shopping. Orkney also benefits from several wonderful small independent grocers and delicatessens - Kirkness & Gorie
At the entrance to the cottage there is a small walled patio area, and a secure store for bicycles, fishing gear, short canoe, surf board etc.
There is parking for one car close by, and another one on the grassed area at the other side of the property. [See parking plan]

Cleaning is done to a high standard, and sanitised as per COVID guidance.
Please note that there is no gate to the garden, and consequently there is easy access on to the public road. The nature of the buildings and the surrounding land and road means that the cottage is therefore not well suited for vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16 without appropriate adult supervision. The owner and manager of Brodgar accepts no responsibility for any accident when exiting the premises on to the single-track road.
