At Slackbrae you'll find exquisitely designed contemporary interiors carefully selected from a range of Scottish designers. Externally, you'll find traditional, conservation materials to blend in with our historic setting. And always a fabric-first approach which emphasizes build quality including insulation to reduce energy services such as heating.
With vaulted 4m high ceilings, floor to ceiling triple glazing, and underfloor heating the 120m2 cottage is spacious yet cosy. The retrofit utilised a conservation approach with sustainable materials to achieve an energy-efficient home. Inside, especially-commissioned kitchen and bathroom tiles tell the heritage of the cottage and the estate throughout the centuries.
With day-long sunlight and stunning views of the fields and woodlands Slackbrae allows guests to immerse themselves in nature and reconnect with the land. The gardens have been rejuvenated by Tracy Rich Design providing a blaze of colour and kitchen herbs throughout the year.
Slackbrae sleeps up to four adults plus one child up to age 17 yrs. There is one en-suite bedroom and a second bedroom with walk-in shower and stylish pulldown seat. There is good accessibility with no steps throughout including into the walk-in shower and out into the herb garden.
Dogs welcome and 2 or 3-course dinners, afternoon teas & cakes available to order from nearby farmshop Polly's Pantry. Private chefs for a truly bespoke Scots dining experience also available.
All-terrain TREK bicycles available for hire: from the traffic-free Sustrans NCN764 which runs through the centre of the estate you can access road, woodland, and hill routes to a variety of historic, farmshop, or touring destinations.
