Butlers Gait is a well-appointed ground floor apartment within a traditional restored country house close to Glenluce in Dumfries and Galloway. The house is surrounded by extensive gardens with walks from your doorstep.
Accessed from a communal entrance hall, the apartment sleeps 2 with one king-size bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and spacious living-dining room all on one floor. One well-behaved dog is welcome too! Sorry - no smoking.
There is electric central heating or you can cosy up in front of the wood-burning stove in the living room. Fuel, power and starter pack for stove are included in the rent.
With comfortable sofas, Blue tooth music system and Freesat TV you may not want to leave the sitting room, but when you fancy a spot of fresh air, there is an incredible garden right on your doorstep for you to walk around or simply sit and enjoy. There is also a walking path just across the road for you to explore further afield. Just up the hill is Glenwhan Gardens with tearooms. out of season the gardens operate using an honesty box and dogs are welcome.
Three windows let light flood into the bedroom which has plenty of storage and a comfortable king-size bed. The bathroom is traditional and full of character with white fixtures and fittings and cottage-style tiled flooring. Bed linen and towels are provided.
The kitchen compliments the rest of the apartment with modern decor and contemporary tiled flooring. Fully equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and all the pans and utensils you will need for your holiday.
To the outside, there is off road parking for one car and access to the garden.
Whether you’re looking for fine-dining, sea-food or pub grub, you will find a good choice of restaurants within easy reach. The nearest shop and pub is 4.5 miles from the apartment.
There is plenty to explore in the local area. The villages of Glenluce, Sandhead and Castle Kennedy are nearby, as well as numerous gardens and beaches to explore. A little further on you’ll find the delightful Portpatrick, Dunskey Castle, Logan Botanic Gardens and the Mull of Galloway.

Around 7 miles away, the town of Stranraer sits on Loch Ryan with a range of shops, 3 supermarkets, cafés and restaurants, as well as a rail station. For the more adventurous, you can take a day trip as a foot passenger to Belfast from Cairnryan just north of Stranraer, where you can visit the excellent Titanic exhibition.
Butler’s Gait is the perfect base for a wonderful holiday exploring Dumfries and Galloway or simply a place for a couple to relax and get away from it all.
For the lovers of gardens, Glenwhan Gardens are a 5 minute walk away from Butler's Gait and just 13 miles away Logan Botanic gardens have an incredible mix of tropical plants and flowers. Also to see is Aldouran wetland gardens at Leswalt near Stranraer, and just 3 miles away from Butler's gait is Castle Kennedy gardens with its walled garden.
Likewise golfers are well catered for with 3 very good courses within 12 miles of Butler's Gait: (Portpatrick, Stranraer and Wigtownshire County). For those who would prefer less of a challenge Portpatrick golf club has an excellent par 3 9 hole course, and in the village of Portpatrick you will find a pitch & put course.
