This first-floor luxury self-catering apartment is located on the Canongate, part of Edinburgh’s famous Royal Mile, the main thoroughfare of the Old Town. It is a five-minute walk from Holyrood Palace, the Queen’s official residence in Scotland, its associated gallery, the Queen’s Gallery, the Scottish Parliament Building, and Our Dynamic Earth. On the opposite side, the Royal Mile leads up to Edinburgh Castle. Entry to the property is via a communal stairwell (no disabled access).
Just off the entrance is the bathroom, which has a heated towel rail, a shower over the bath, and views out to Calton Hill and its monuments (with frosted glass at the bottom of the window for privacy). Next off the left of the hallway is the kitchen with all the essential cooking and eating utensils, as well as a microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, and a washer-dryer. It has the same views as from the bathroom, but as the whole window is transparent, residents can look on to the shared paved garden attached to the property. Beside the kitchen is a utility cupboard with an iron and ironing board, while the farthermost room on the left side of the hallway is a double bedroom with similar views. It contains a leather chair, radio alarm clock, hairdryer, and an adjoining clothes closet.
Opposite the double bedroom is a twin room also with an adjoining clothes closet, a chest of drawers for storage, and views on to the Canongate. The final room of the flat is the sitting room, which has a futon (double sofa bed), a flat screen TV with DVD player, six chairs, an extending dining table, and a bookcase with a selection of books, CDs, and DVDs, as well as a stereo micro speaker system.
The property has laminate flooring except in the carpeted bedrooms and tiled bathroom, and is decorated in neutral cream and stone tones, which together with the large windows throughout, confer a calming and refreshing atmosphere. With a capacity for five, this apartment offers a great retreat for two couples or parents and their little ones.
Please note that the construction work which took place behind the property in 2016 is now finished.
