Chalet Yvonne is situated about four miles from Stornoway, only a few minutes’ walk from three beaches. There are plenty of interesting walks direct from the house and the Point peninsula has lots of interesting coastline to explore. A community shop and cafe opened nearby in early 2014 - just a couple of minutes walk away.
Purpose built in 2013/2014, this Swedish log cabin holiday cottage feels really cosy, thanks to the warm colours and textures of the sealed wood surfaces. With its efficient insulation, you can holiday here in comfort throughout the year. Pretty much all of Lewis is within an hour's driving time, so this is a great touring location. Even the most distant destination on Harris is only a couple of hours’ gentle drive.
There are two bedrooms, a generous open-plan living room with picture windows a flat screen TV and free wi-fi, fully equipped kitchen area and family size shower room – ample space for one or two couples, or a family with up to three children. Everything you need is supplied, including towels and linen, plenty of utensils and even a welcome pack.
A wide opening from the hall gives access to a generous living room with picture windows so you can relax on the comfortable seating and enjoy the panoramic views. You’ll see over the neighbouring crofts and across the seashore (it’s only about 400 metres away) to the west coast of Lewis and beyond to the mountains of the Isle of Harris - on clear days, even the Scottish mainland is clearly visible.
A fully equipped kitchen area includes a full size cooker with hob, fridge with frozen food compartment, auto washer, microwave and all the crocks, pots, pans and implements you could need – just arrive with your spare clothes and enjoy the holiday!
Prices range from £275 to £475 per week, with discounts for occupancy by one couple only or for stays of two weeks or more.
A recent visitor to the cottage said, “I was amazed at how spacious this holiday cottage is. You really don’t get a sense of its size from either the photos or even standing outside looking at it. It’s so warm and cosy inside, too – and there’s everything you need for your stay.”
The shower room has plenty of room to organise the children’s bedtime – and a fully enclosed compartment with electric shower means you’ll have all the water you need at a constant temperature.
A ramp for wheelchair users will be in place before April 2014, and the car parking area will also be completed at the same time. The front doors are 90cms wide and doors to the shower- and bedrooms are 80cms wide – please see the floor-plan for more detailed dimensions.
Well behaved dogs may be accommodated, subject to prior agreement - please phone to discuss.
Smoking in the chalet is not permitted, but please feel welcome to smoke in the surrounding outdoor area, if you wish – bins are provided.
