Set amidst rural farmland in the beautiful Scottish Borders' Teviot Valley, situated on the banks of the Teviot Water, it provides a perfect base for exploring the surrounding historic Scottish border towns and English Borderlands.
There is an abundance of wildlife surrounding the cottage and it’s easy to spend an hour or so just watching the many birds come and go, including pheasants.
Colterscleuch Cottage is a delightful property suited for a family or group of five, but also not too big for couples looking for a quiet retreat. The cottage enjoys a fairly secluded spot but is a short drive away from amenities.
The living room, with two large comfy sofas and a log burner, is perfect for lounging and watching your favourite TV and DVDs. We have a range of DVDs, books and games for everyone to enjoy.
Most guests are entranced by the amount and variety of birds who visit the feeders just outside the patio doors. It's very easy to spend time watching their antics! You can guess what they are or look them up in our bird books.
There is a great size fully equipped modern dining kitchen, making mealtimes easier for all. The large bathroom has a separate bath and shower enclosure and is a good size for family living.
Bed linens and towels, heating, hot water and WiFi are all included. We can also supply a travel cot and high chair if you'd like to use them, just let us know when you book your stay (please bring your own cot bedding for your little one)
Step out beyond the patio to a secluded area, ‘The River Garden’, where you can sit and enjoy the views of the farmlands and listen to the babbling river and birdsong from the extensive wild bird population or venture further down for a dip in the River Teviot that runs at the bottom of the garden.
During the long warm summer evenings you can enjoy a campfire, sitting round the firepit and watch the sunset over the farm fields with a view and sound of the river below. Or for a late afternoon or evening retreat, why not have a BBQ over the firepit which has a large BBQ grill fitted and a picnic bench and table to enjoy your meal in the outdoors under the trees.
