A spacious cottage with open plan layout. There's a king sized bed with very comfortable memory foam mattress. The large sitting room has an eco-friendly biomass pellet boiler which does the central heating and hot water and gives out a cheery glow. Off the sitting room is a dining and seating area, we have a comfortable single chair bed with screen. We've Freesat TV, free WiFi, DVD and CD player plus a selection of books, games and binoculars to view the wildlife and stars. The stylish kitchen has a microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer and a good selection of cooking equipment, there's a washing machine, iron and board in the utility cupboard. The bathroom has a shower over the bath, flooring throughout is natural slate with large rugs for comfort and we've a gallery of original art.
Outside the garden gets the sun all day and evening. After a day exploring, relax with a drink on the patio and watch the sun slowly set. Nearby is Kirkmichael with its superb gastro pub, village shop and cafe. Golfers are exceptionally well catered for with Turnberry and Royal Troon a short drive away; plus there are many excellent municipal courses in Girvan, Ayr, Maybole and Prestwick. There are some lovely walks around the cottage offering some great views and within the surrounding area there are many more. Craigengillan Estate has a superb gorge walk up Ness Glen to Loch Doon and is home to the Dark Sky Observatory with an extensive programme of events. It also has a horse riding centre for lessons or treks through the beautiful estate.
Cultural highlights include Culzean Castle looking out over the Ayrshire coast to Arran, or Dumfries House with its priceless collection of Chippendale furniture, walled garden and woodland walks. There are numerous other castles in the region including Dundonald, Dean Castle and romantic ruins at Dunure. And of course there's Burns Birthplace Museum and Cottage in nearby Alloway. A great way to take in the glorious coastline is to take a trip in the world's only sea-going paddle steamer the Waverley; day trips to Arran, the Kyles of Bute and Mull of Kintyre start from Ayr and Girvan. Glasgow with its shopping, galleries and museums is only an hour away.
