As you drive up through the Glenmazeran Estate to this magical hideaway in the hills, you are as likely as to come across a herd of red deer grazing in the grasslands no more than 100 yards from this lovely property.

Accommodation: 3 bedrooms, 3 twins (sleeps 6)

This little cottage is a real gem and you should not be fooled by its somewhat plain exterior. Inside it is fully and delightfully refurbished – soft tweeds and neutral colours and a great kitchen make up a house that would normally cost a lot more. The sitting room has a wood burning stove and a sun room that looks over the land and down to the lochan. The bedrooms are all en-suite – unusual in a cottage like this, and are crisp clean and comfortable.

Culrain is located on the very beautiful Glenmazeran Estate high up the Findhorn Valley. It is a special place for those who love stunning landscapes and wildlife. Deer graze outside the cottage and eagles and wild goats are regularly seen. The estate may be able to offer you fishing on the Findhorn by arrangement. Nearby you have the City of Inverness or a trip to the Cairngorm National Park is always a pleasure and a sampling of the Speyside distilleries a fine way to tend the day.
