This beautiful old lodge sits between Blairgowrie and Pitlochry, near the small village of Kirkmichael. The house dates back to the 1830's and retains numerous charming original features. It is set within three acres of secluded gardens where croquet and football are perfect for the kids and adults alike. It is an easy short walk to the village where there is a shop and hotel.
The house is a much loved family house and it is welcoming and traditional making it perfect for family holidays or celebratory gatherings. It is spacious and full of interesting furniture and detail. Whilst not modern in its presentation it is relaxing and enjoyable. With 9 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, 17 people can stay very comfortably and the many public rooms offer both social space and plenty of opportunity to escape. There are some lovely antiques, painting and the always delightful stags heads on the walls. The games room is a spectacular place with a huge carved fireplace, double height ceiling and doors to the garden. it is ideal for both ceilidhs and wedding parties.
The bedrooms are very traditional and comfortable and on the first and second floor with the top floor being perfect for children. The public rooms have log fires and logs are provided free of charge. The kitchen benefits from both a prep area and a cooking area and is well equipped with a breakfasting table for the mornings. A laundry, drying room and pantries reflect the history of the house where the servants would have assisted - now they are ideas for all the paraphernalia of holiday groups. The dining room is beautiful and will have seen many fine social nights over the centuries.
A really charming traditional lodge house is a great area with plenty to do and the relaxed feel that just makes a family holiday. There is a local cook available by arrangement if you want a break from the kitchen!
