The local area has lots to offer walking, fishing, cycling are all on the doorstep whilst 10 miles away is the stunning Dumfries House, with gardens and adventure playground for the children, or venture further to the Robert Burns Museum and the Ayrshire coastline.
Heading the other way to Dumfries, there is the new Crawick Mulitverse attraction, opening on the 21st June. Stop at the town of Sanquhar, famous for its knitting pattern and then head over the Mennock Pass taking in the breathtaking views, to Wanlockhead, the highest village in Scotland, there you can try panning for gold, or visit the museum.
Drumlanrig Castle has walks and cycle trails, or you can book a days fishing, events held there each year include the Country Fair.
There is plenty to see and do in the area, then retreat back to Darna Tighe to relax and enjoy the silence.
