Follow the Path of the river Tweed, then up hill and down dale, until you reach a hidden valley and the family's 2000 acre farm . Here nestle two barns beautifully converted and 40 yards apart, each with it's own entrance, with fabulous views over an ancient Borders landscape of drystone dykes and rolling hills. Dignity is named after the farm's famous ram ("Dignity"), the other after the Aberdeen Angus bull ("Time")... both houses ooze style and class. Step into a timeless decor of earthy colours in sympathy with the surroundings, solid wooden furniture, and heated oak and slate floors, lovely muted plaids and tweeds from Anta, and well chosen art on the walls. Kitchens (with range cookers, granite worktops, Denby china) open to dining areas: sofas are huge in leather or tweed; multifuel stoves are focal point for cosy nights in - with board games, tellies , books, and musical instruments. You can fish for wild brown trout on the Elliots' loch or salmon on the Tweed- 2 miles away, it's a pretty walk to civilisation (also 2 miles) and a short drive to many of the Border towns such as Melrose, Peebles. Return to private barbecue patios, small child-gated gardens, sleek slate- floored bathrooms, fabulous beds and pristine linen. Dignity and Time are 32 miles from Edinburgh.
