A haven of tranquillity, Distant Hills Guest House is set in extensive grounds and located at the edge of the quiet Highland village of Spean Bridge, yet still close enough to the bustling town of Fort William and Ben Nevis. Located at the 'crossroads of the Highlands' and in the 'Outdoor Capital of the UK' region of Lochaber, there is so much to see and do, and all easily accessible. Whatever your interests, we'd be more than happy to make tailored itinerary suggestions and help you book activities.
Stylish and comfortable accommodation
Distant Hills Guest House is a large bungalow set in its own spacious grounds and offers seven individually designed comfortable stylish bedrooms all with en-suite shower rooms and colour flat-screen televisions. There is a choice of double or twin bedded rooms and each has a hospitality tray and a luxury range of soaps, shampoos and shower gels. Luxury continues with fabulous soft white bath sheets and towels with lots of other little touches.
Unfortunately, there is no family room at Distant Hills so we welcome children 12 years old and over and thereby offer a relaxed and peaceful place for singles, couples and older families.
Beautiful secluded garden with a hot tub, stream and small woodland
A real wow factor at Distant Hills is our colourful and spacious garden with its own stream and shaded woodland area. There are several seating areas, each offering a different aspect. Our favourite feature is our brand new sparklingly clean hot tub so you can relax and soak your muscles after a day of exploring the Highlands.
Residents' Bar
Enjoying a drink or two is often part of the holiday experience, which is why we provide on the premises a fully licensed residents' bar stocked with a range of locally crafted beers, whiskies, gins, wine, mixers and soft drinks.
Bright and spacious guest lounge
In addition to the garden, we also have a large bright south-facing guest lounge with comfy sofas and armchairs overlooking the garden. The space is perfect for planning the next day’s adventures, chatting with your travelling companions, making new friends with other guests or seeking a quiet moment for your own reflection.
Delicious gourmet style breakfast
The colourful breakfast room offers delicious home cooking prepared with traditional locally sourced Scottish ingredients. The breakfast menu offers at least three main course options as well as a selection of cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit to set you up for a day of adventure in the Highlands.
Easy parking and transport
The guest house has a large, free private car park and for those arriving on the West Highland railway line, the train station lies in the middle of the village. We are happy to transfer guests to and from the station or the bus stop. We also provide complimentary transfers from/to Gairlochy if you are walking the Great Glen Way.
