20 minutes south of Inverness lies Strathnairn - the valley of the River Nairn. The B851 to Fort Augustus meanders between gentle forest-covered hills and rocky out crops and in this quiet valley Christina and James Murray welcome guests for bed and breakfast. Farr Mains is situated on the outskirts of the village of Farr just 41/5 miles from the A9 and is set in 6 acres of its own grounds. A large wooden extension was built by James's grandparents in the 1930's, and the rest of the house dates from 1850 when it was the Mill owner's cottage.
The atmosphere is peaceful, comfortable and civilized. We keep Llamas in the field just beyond the garden gate which add an exotic touch! Though not remote this is an ideal place of seclusion in true rural Scotland and a practical central base from which to explore the Highlands in every direction.
For many years we have welcomed guests from all over the world to share our home. We offer two en suite bedrooms, both with a single room attached which can become a family suite or be used as a dressing room, along with exclusive use of our large sitting room with log fire and dining room. Delicious breakfasts are provided and dinner can be arranged if notice is given. Well behaved dogs are welcome.
From Farr Mains Inverness Airport is 30 minutes away and Inverness Station is 20 minutes. Inverness has many very good restaurants reached in 20 minutes and there is a pub 10 minutes west along the B851.
