Fisherman's Rest cottage is located in a small hamlet named Muchalls, just down the road from Stonehaven, ideally situated a few minutes from the beautiful north east coast line. The property benefits from having some of the finest scenery in the north east right on the doorstep. Also the rugged rocky shore is on the highland fault attracting geologists from all over the country to study the fantastic rock formation. The cottage dates from 1850's and would originally have been two fisherman's cottages. All the cottages on Monduff Road are listed and it is part of the Old Drover's road which ran between Aberdeen and Stonehaven.
The property itself benefits from having a large open plan living area which has a wood burning stove set in a wall of exposed granite , creating a wonderful cosy feel to the room. At the other end is the large dining area. There is also a fully equipped kitchen (including a dishwasher). There is a shower room on this floor. A particularly attractive feature of the property is the open tread staircase from the lower to the upper level and which is positioned between the split level Lounge/Dining Room. Upstairs there are 3 good sized bedrooms, one kingsize, one double and one twin room along with a cloakroom.
Muchalls is a former fishing village well served by local facilities. A wide range of sporting and recreational attractions are available in the area including 18 hole Golf Courses at Portlethen and Stonehaven, and a wide range of sea based pursuits are centred round the Old Stonehaven Harbour, with Dunnottar Castle by Stonehaven and Dolphin Safari tours at nearby Torry Battery being particular favourites. There is also the opportunity to enjoy beautiful coastal walks that extend in either direction straight from the front door of the cottage.The village itself boasts a lovely bistro, The Stack with other eating options close to hand in Chapelton and Stonehaven. Excellent shopping facilities are available at nearby Stonehaven and Portlethen.
