Stay in our very quirky hideaway, the Fishing Hut. A step-up from glamping with stunning interiors, this is the perfect place to embrace off-grid living.
The Fishing Hut (sleeps 2-4) sits right on the bank of the Boondreigh River in its own 2-acre field. Inside, the space is interior-designed with a living area, woodburning stove, kitchen area and sleeping space. Double doors take you to one of two raised decking areas - with the sound of the river, you can while away the day and absorb yourself in the outdoors. You'll also have a brilliant firepit outside, with a stone circle of seating.
Heat and light are both renewable. Lighting and charge points are solar powered. Heating is by woodburning stove with logs sourced form the immediate area, and the building has natural insulation.
INSIDE THE CABIN
At the living area end of the cabin, you'll find an Esse Bakeheart stove-cooker, sofa, day bed (single bed at night!) and also a little reading/study nook.
Cooking on the Esse Bakeheart is an incredible experience. On warmer days, use the single gas hob or you might prefer to cook outdoors on the camp fire. The small kitchen has a cold water tap, a great selection of pans, cooking implements, crockery, cutlery and mugs and glasses. You’ll have a great cool box, but no fridge!
The cosy double bed has river views, a comfy mattress and extra blankets. It's the same size as the original bed in the vintage caravan (i.e. a small double). You’ll find plenty room underneath to store bags and belongings, as well as a chest of drawers for clothes. If you're a family group, you can make use of the extra single bed in the living area, and we can also provide a further blow-up bed. You can even bring a tent for older kids!
WC & PRIVATE SHOWER
The Fishing Hut has an eco-toilet within the cabin. There is no shower at the Fishing Hut itself, but guests can use the shower (and flushing toilet) at the private “Wash House”, just a few minutes walk, near the parking area.
