Fortingall Stables offers it all – a peaceful situation in Fortingall, Glen Lyon, 9 miles from Aberfeldy and one of Scotland’s prettiest hamlets, surrounded by the glorious landscapes of Highland Perthshire, spectacular, exquisite and most comfortable accommodation, and an excellent base for touring in all directions.
It stands in the corner of an elegant courtyard behind the hotel and as soon as you walk through the arch to the recessed front door, you know you are in for something special – the interior of this superbly appointed house has wall-to-wall wow factor.
The vast, open plan galleried living area has a wood-burning stove and doors opening to the secluded rear garden (furniture) with only the hill beyond. Downstairs, there are two double bedrooms, one with en suite shower room, and a further bathroom. Upstairs is no less impressive, with a very large bedroom with twin beds and a broad landing with sofa bed (charge).
The first thing that strikes you outside Fortingall Stables is the tranquillity; standing in the garden behind, looking across the valley, you will probably hear only bird song. Close by, Glen Lyon, Scotland’s longest glen, offers great walking and cycling, with water sports over the hill at Loch Rannoch or Loch Tay. You can climb Schiehallion, play golf at Kenmore, Aberfeldy or Killin, head for the West Coast, or simply relax in such lovely surroundings.
