The Roundhouse is situated, in private woodland, on a working sheep and cattle farm, and enjoys panoramic views over Wigtown Bay with stunning sunsets.
Mossyard beach, Laggan Outdoor Centre, Gigi’s Yard and Kirroughtree Cycling/walking Centre are all close by. Many wonderful gardens, such as Logan Botanics, Glenwhan and Threave are all within driving range.
Take a walk down to the shoreline and enjoy the calls of the Oystercatchers and Cormerants.
Just around half a mile along the back road is The Galloway Smokery which sells delicious smoked salmon and other goodies, or dine at the ajoining restaurant ‘The Galloway Fisherman’.
The Roundhouse has been built locally by craftsmen passionate about what they create. Using sustainable materials, it has a 6m diameter, insulated with specialised wool insulation and built of wood, complete with sedum roof. It features large panoramic windows giving stunning views across Wigtown Bay.
Inside there is an entrance lobby leading into the main living space. The kitchen includes a gas hob and oven with grill, fridge and sink area. A cosy sofa to enjoy the views and a comfy king size bed with reading lights. Completing the main area is a log stove (with supply of logs) to keep you snug.
Off the main area is a shower room with sink and toilet and heated towel rail.
It is powered mainly by solar panels and gas.

We are living in extra ordinary times and the purpose of this note is to let you know of changes we’re making in relation to Covid-19 to ensure you feel as comfortable as possible in our holiday home. There are also some things we require you to do at the end of your stay.
Firstly, we are required to remove as much ‘excess’ from the house as possible, so sadly we have removed all books, games, jigsaw puzzles, and likewise the supply of magazines and tourist leaflets. We would encourage you to bring these things with you, and please remember to take them back with you.
We are providing electronic versions of our Welcome Pack, with useful information and emergency telephone numbers etc and replacing tourist leaflets with a list of what is in the surrounding area and website addresses, this will ensure you get the latest information on what they offer and opening times.
Secondly, we believe a high standard of cleaning is essential. It is done by me and one other regular person wearing appropriate PPE. We will be changing and cleaning more soft furnishings and ensuring everywhere is given a ‘deep’ clean each changeover. For that reason we need to change our access times by one hour each side, so check-out time is now 10.00am and check-in 4.00pm,and request your cooperation in this.
The linen is provided by a specialist laundry while the towels, bath mats, tea towels, oven-gloves are all my own and I wash them at home but there are other options. If you prefer I can place everything in The Roundhouse as usual as usual or if you wish to bring your own to feel more comfortable that is fine, please just say.
Fabric Sofa arm sleeves and throws over the sofa are a new addition to The Roundhouse and not normally in use!! Each changeover will receive a clean set, if you wish not to use them that is not a problem. I totally agree they are not the best looking items !!
Finally, on the day you are leaving please can I ask you to do the following. Please can you strip the bed and place the sheets, duvet cover and pillowcases in the large cloth laundry bag and fasten up. The mattress & pillow protectors also need to be removed, as we are supplying fresh for every guest, these along with the towels, bath mats, tea towels, oven gloves and those lovely arm sleeves need to be placed in the plastic laundry basket (found in the cupboard in the hallway). If at all possible I would be very grateful if all the bags/baskets containing these items can be left in the entrance hall-way.
I really appreciate your help with these requests and want to stress if you need anything extra during your stay just contact me and I will try to accommodate.
