Glen Dye is a private estate of around 30,000 acres and our cabins and cottages sit slap bang at its centre, surrounded by wilderness forest and moorland on the banks of the River Dye. The location is fabled; watched over by the massive granite tor of Clachnaben and at the northern end of the Cairn o Mount mountain pass. This is where the Howe of the Mearns finally gives in to the Highland boundary fault; wild, beautiful and very, very quiet.
We have a handful of perfect holiday cottages, many with outdoor, wood-fired hot tubs and one with its own private cabin. These cabins and cottages combine jaw dropping wild locations with perfect comfort and style.
Book the Showman’s Caravan in the Garden Camp and get exclusive use of our rebuilt Garden Shed (modelled on the Victorian original) which is now an amazing space -open to the elements on one side- and includes a fantastic kitchen including Big Green Egg and Gozney Pizza Oven as well as a large sitting and eating area and a wonderful view.
The Camp also has a brilliant wash house with every conceivable home comfort including underfloor heating. All of this sits below the vegetable garden in the disused Estate tree nursery where many of the original Scots Pine have now come of age. The communal sauna and shower (which is booked for private use by guests) are near by.
You will sleep in a fully restored 1958 Showman’s Caravan with huge double bed, a lovely simple kitchen and dining area.
As a guest at Garden Camp you also have full access to The Glen Dye Arms, a BYOB pub complete with roaring log fire, ancient bar and record player. You can also use our amazing wood-fired sauna, which was custom-built for us in Wales. And we have endless vegetables and eggs for you to purchase from our very own garden.
