Gattaway Farmhouse is a Georgian period country house offering a comfortable rural retreat in the heart of Scotland. The original house was built around 1780, with extensions added in the late Victorian era. The historic architecture is complemented by full modern amenities and all our letting rooms have private en-suites. The hillside location in the picturesque conservation village of Abernethy offers stunning panoramic views from the Trossachs in the west, through the Ochils and on to the Tay and Earn rivers and the Carse of Gowrie. We are ideally placed for exploring the many and varied attractions of Scotland, from golf to fishing and hunting, hill walking, mountain biking, historical buildings and castles, beautiful scenery and more. We have three letting rooms available (2 doubles and 1 twin/double), all with private en-suites, TVs with Freeview and DVD player, free WiFi and tea/coffee making facilities. Room rates include a light self-service breakfast with a selection of cereals, toast, juice, fruit, coffee and tea. For the golf enthusiast we are ideally placed to take advantage of the many world famous golf courses in Perthshire and Fife including the home of golf St Andrews (23 miles), Open Championship venue Carnoustie (35 miles) and, host of the 2014 Ryder Cup, Gleneagles (24 miles). There are too many other courses to list all within distance for an easy day trip - probably running in to the hundreds! - some of the best include Kingsbarns, Ladybank, Blairgowrie, and Dalmahoy. For those keen on fishing, the River Tay and its tributaries are world renowned Salmon rivers and fishing is available on a daily or weekly basis on a number of beats. Perthshire is famous for the quality of its field sports. There are a number of excellent pheasant and partridge shoots in the area, whilst the grouse moors and deer forests of Highland Perthshire are within easy reach. The nearby Ochil hills plus the southern Highlands offer extensive hill walking, mountain biking, skiing, trekking and other outdoor activities.
