Glentrool Camping and Caravan Site is a quiet campsite, situated within south-west Scotland's Galloway Forest Park and the UK's first Dark Sky Park. With more than a million trees and 300 square miles of rugged, breathtaking landscapes and home to a variety of wildlife, including birds of prey, this is the area's ultimate expedition base camp!
Glentrool camp site has 14 hard-standing pitches for caravans and motorhomes - all with electricity available, a motorhome service point, tent pitches - some with electric hook up, a small shop on site, and shower block facilities. All facilities have been recently upgraded.
There are also self-catering holiday caravans available for hire - perfect for family breaks.
Close by is the coast to coast Southern Upland Way which passes close to us making it an ideal stop-over for those taking the walk from Portpatrick to Eyemouth; the spectacular Loch Trool; the RSPB Wood of Cree Nature reserve and two of the world renowned 7stanes Mountain Biking Trails, making Glentrool Holiday Park the perfect base camp for your expeditions into the great outdoors! There is also some tremendous hillwalking in the Galloway Hills with the highest peak (Merrick) standing at 2,766ft.
The Galloway Forest Park has some of Scotland's most amazing wildlife including Red Squirrels, Otters, Pine Martens, Black Grouse, Golden Eagles, Red Deer and even Nightjars - but without the long drive north.
We also have a great pub and restaurant just a few minutes walk from us.
