Culsharg Cottage and Kelpies Cottage are in Glentrool, the only village inside Galloway Forest Dark Skies Park. It's a beautiful, peaceful rural location and you can expect to see some awesome starry skies, and if you're really lucky, maybe even Aurora Borealis.
Glentrool is very much about the outdoors, with plenty of biking, wild swimming and walking nearby. We are right in the heart of the stunning Galloway Forest with trees, streams, lochs and mountains right on the doorstep. We are also proud to be part of Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere, a UNESCO-designated Biosphere Community.
Both cottages are single-storey bungalows which have been recently renovated and are simply, but colourfully decorated with comfortable beds. Both have oil-fired central heating and a log burning stove in the living room for those cosy winter nights.
The kitchens are modern and have cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, kettle, toaster, and dishwasher. The hot water is an "on-demand" system.
Culsharg has a walk-in shower, while Kelpies has a bath with shower over.
Culsharg has a double bed in one bedroom and three singles in the other. Kelpies has a double in one bedroom, and a double and single in the other. So both cottages sleep up to 5 people. Fresh bed linen is provided for each guest along with a bath towel for each guest and hand towels for the kitchen and bathroom.
In the living room there are a couple of small sofas and a table/chairs for meals, but while there is a TV and DVD player provided in the cottage, there is no TV reception (or licence) at the cottage. There is a ROKU which you can use to access your own Amazon, Netflix etc. There is a free Wi-Fi in both cottages.
Dogs are welcome and the gardens of both cottages are fully enclosed (we do ask that you keep dogs off the furniture and out of the bedrooms please).
Outside, there is a lovely peaceful garden space. There is secure bike storage (a shed!) and bike wash facilities (a hose!). There is plenty of space on the driveway for parking.
