BBQ Hut (Grillkota)
The BBQ Hut compliments the Mountain Bear experience and has been installed to enhance your stay at the Lodge and is a fun enjoyable place to spend time with friends and have a get-together. It was imported from Finland and is called a “Grillkota”. Its origins are from the North Arctic Circle when the Sami Reindeer Herdsmen traveled across the Tundra with the Reindeer. Originally it was made like a Tepee similar to the style of native North American people, with Reindeer skins as an outside cover, and a cooking fire inside with a smoke outlet at the point. This, stylish modern adaptation gives you an insight into its ambience and origins.
There is also a seperate large open barbeque with patio heater, situated at the side of the decking, but for the ultimate in luxury we have installed a 10-person “Hot-Springs” State of the Art hot tub. So whatever the weather, day or night, you and your party can luxuriate in the warm water, and maybe even see the runs that you skied or boarded down that day. What luxury and pleasure! For the poorer the weather, the more appealing the hot tub is. Mountain Bear also has its own resident Red Squirrel population within the grounds, (don’t forget to bring some nuts!!!)
For relaxing or Al Fresco dining, there are 4 sets of outside furniture, situated in different locations around the lodge, to catch the sun any time of day.
There is ample storage within the lodge. All bedrooms have “walk in” storage and Freeview TV’s (save small bunk room). The entire lodge has thermostatically controlled electric heating. There is a cot & hi chair, which is available free of charge, an iron & board, hair dryers, board games and a small selection of CD’s and DVD’s.
All towels, bed linen, a selection of dressing robes and slippers, and logs for the wood burning stove are included in the rental.
Our goal was to create the very best self-catering property in Scotland, in terms of design, luxury, setting, ambience, furnishings and equipment, and we Truly believe we will have achieved this.
