Gruinards Farm Cottage has been extensively renovated in 2016 and includes Air source heating, being eco friendly whilst minimising the effects on the environment. The cottage is nestled next to the river Carron which leads to The Kyle of Sutherland. River Carron is world known for salmon fishing where a licence to fish can be gained from the Ardgay village shop. To the South the land gives way to Hills which are romantically covered in snow in winter, these allow for serious walkers to explore the hills of highlands seeing wild life with peace full surroundings. The area is steeped in history with the 1845 Highland clearances further West is Croick Church where some of the people who were displaced have marked their names around the church and on the windows. Gruinards Farm Cottage is also not far from the Falls of Shin where Atlantic Salmon can be seen jumping at certain times of the year. In Spinningdale the ruins of Spinningdale mill can be seen a building which was built in 1792 but burnt down in 1806 and never re-built. Dornoch Beach is not to far from the cottage and has pure soft sand which is lapped by the clear North Sea. Golfers have a choice of many golf course that are in easy reach of Gruinards Farm cottage, the renown 500 route Scotlands answer to Route 66 in America also. not far away. Ardgay village hosts a train station, bus service, local taxi village shop, bike shop, garage and a friendly community.
