Accommodation: 5 bedrooms, 3 doubles, 2 family rooms (sleeps 12)
At the heart of an historic estate, this former Clan MacLeod hunting lodge dates back to 1770. It now comprises a spacious house and fully enclosed walled garden, reached by private drive through wooded grounds. The 5 bedroom Lodge offers traditional comfort with a relaxed and welcoming attitude. The rooms are large and airy with wonderful views. A generous farmhouse style kitchen opens onto the pretty walled garden with its ancient apple and pear trees. The inviting open fire in the sitting room is perfect for relaxing after busy days eagle or whale watching around this spectacular coast
Dramatic sunsets are beautifully framed from the sea view windows of the front rooms. The bedrooms are large and light, decorated throughout with local art and photography. This traditional island house has a comfortable relaxed feel – an ideal base for exploring the world famous wildland nearby, as well as the whole beautiful Isle of Skye and enjoys stunning views of the Western Isles. Despite its secluded location, the Lodge is just 5 minutes stroll from the local shop/PO and cafe. Award winning or family friendly dining is available locally; adjoining deer fenced young woodland is perfect for dog walking (and kids love seeing cows, sheep and geese at a safe distance in the surrounding fields).
Hamara Lodge is an unique and characterful, relaxed, private, spacious (and very affordable) home-from-home for your large party of family or friends; a great self catering base for enjoying all that Skye has to offer.
Nearby attractions include: dramatic Neist Point Lighthouse (also one of the best places to watch whales, dolphins and sharks from land in Britain); unique Coral Bays; Dunvegan Castle and Gardens (oldest continuously inhabited castle in Britain); seal watching boat trips in local SAC; marvelous hill walking, wildlife and bird watching; world class musicians at regular folk music sessions; and a wealth of artists and craftspeople drawn to live and work in this remote and beautiful area.
