Charming Victorian cottage in a quiet secluded lane in central Lerwick. The cottage can comfortably sleep 5 people with the option of a 6th person using the sofa bed. Most attractions in Lerwick are within walking distance.
Built around 1860 the cottage offers very comfortable accommodation. Our two bedrooms have been set up to provide family accommodation or accommodation for groups: the larger room has a double and single bed, the smaller one, two single beds. Downstairs we offer a sofa bed which could comfortably sleep one adult.
At Hansel Cottage we welcome a minimum stay of three nights. We are open all year. Discounts available for return bookings.
Parking is usually available on the street immediately behind the cottage.
Hansel Cottage retains much of its original charm and character but has all the modern conveniences you will need, including free Wifi and a 32” smart TV. All the rooms are surprisingly spacious. The kitchen is equipped to a high standard. There is central heating and a multi-fuel stove (logs and peats provided). The public rooms have exposed wooden floors and small windows set in thick walls, giving a snug feel.
There is a small south/west facing private garden with outdoor furniture, a portable barbecue and a clothes line. There is also a shed where you can store bikes.
Hansel Cottage is within easy walking distance of many attractions, such as Lerwick Town Hall, Mareel and the Shetland Museum and Archives. Shetland Family History Society premises are within sight of the cottage. The Islesburgh Complex, home to Shetland Accordion and Fiddle Festival Club, is around 3 minutes' walk away.
