Hawthornlea is situated in the quiet village of Reay which is on the North Coast 500 route. We are close to the sea and near woodlands and mountains. Travel a few miles west to visit the Flow Country and use the RSPB viewing tower to spot wildlife. Travel a few miles east and visit the royal Castle of Mey and John O’ Groats, the most northerly village in UK.
We have two double bedrooms available, each with modern en-suite facilities, robes, slippers and superior Scottish toiletries.
Each room has a smart TV , complimentary WiFi and hairdryer. An iron and ironing board are also available.
We have a wide range of choice for breakfast including a hearty Highland breakfast, fish dishes, vegan and vegetarian options. We use local produce whenever possible and include home made accompaniments.
We offer the use of a cosy lounge, with tea and coffee making facilities and home baking, including a guests' fridge and coffee machine. Guests may wish to wander through the garden, make use of any of the patio areas or the summer house.
We have ample parking and all rooms are on ground level.
In the local area there is a wealth of wildlife with many country walks, golden beaches, and mountains to climb. There is golf, fishing, surfing and horse riding.
The local town of Thurso, 10 miles away, has cafes, restaurants, take-away outlets, bars and shops. The neighbouring village of Melvich is just five miles away which has a pub offering hearty meals. Guests may use our dining facilities for take-away meals.
We are situated right on the North Coast 500 route, a well known scenic coastal route around the north of Scotland. We are 100 miles north of the UK's most northerly city, Inverness. The nearest airport is Wick 30 miles away and the ferry to Orkney, 11 miles. The local bus stops at our door.
