Offering you a warm welcome in the Borders, your host Melanie will ensure that your stay at Haymount is a pleasurable experience. Haymount was originally built in the late 1700s but has been extended and modernised over the years and we have opened our bed and breakfast business in one side of the house. This allows our guests to enjoy their own completely private space.
Our location in the very pretty village of Birgham is ideal for access to the River Tweed, one of the great salmon rivers of Great Britain, which is just a 5 minute stroll away through rolling Borders countryside.
Birgham is situated on the A698 and is ideally placed for easy access to many Borders towns, the Northumberland coast and is just one hour's drive from Edinburgh. We are lucky to have our own highly regarded village pub - The Fisherman's Arms - which provides food and refreshments and a warm welcome to visitors. With Coldstream 3 miles to the East and Kelso 5 miles to the West, you will find plenty of historic sites, first rate golf courses and great places to eat and drink within a short drive.
Haymount offers a double and a twin bedroom, each offering very comfortable en-suite accommodation. The twin room has the added advantage of a bath with a shower over (great for cyclists!). Complimentary toiletries, coffee and tea making facilities, TV with FreeView, free Wi-Fi, hairdryer and ironing facilities are available in the rooms. We are able to offer secure storage for motorbikes, bicycles and fishing gear and off-street parking for cars.
Our guest lounge is for the exclusive use of our guests and where your breakfast is served. A selection of books, games and plenty of tourist information is available for your enjoyment should you wish to switch off from the TV!
Breakfast at Haymount is varied and plentiful. Cereals, fruit juice and fresh fruit are available from the buffet followed by a full Haymount cooked breakfast with toast, marmalade and jam to finish. A Continental breakfast is available with advance notice and we will endeavour to cater to any special dietary requirements. Packed lunches and evening meals are available upon request at the time of booking.
